Joining in the fun at Nottingham’s annual Bonfire Night celebrations couldn’t be easier, as the city’s tram network is introducing a special timetable and offering discounted tickets.
The free attraction at the Forest Recreation Ground on Monday, November 5 is hugely popular with locals and visitors alike and since there’ll be no parking on site, people heading for the event are being urged to travel by tram.
To make way for the fireworks fun, on the night access to the park and ride facilities at the Forest will be restricted to blue badge holders only but NET is laying on frequent services through the evening to help make sure nobody misses out.
From 3.00pm, trams will run every eight and a half minutes until 7.00pm and then at 10 minute intervals until 10.00pm. From then trams will run every 15 minutes.
As well as boosting services, NET is offering families a special Group Travel ticket. Priced at £5, it provides unlimited travel for one or two adults and up to three children using the tram network after 4.00pm.
Stephanie Moss-Pearce, NET Marketing Manager, said: “With a stop at the Forest site as well as extra services and a reduced price travel offer, travelling by tram offers the ideal way to make the most of Nottingham’s latest bonfire and fireworks extravaganza.
“NET customers needn’t worry about getting stuck in traffic or finding a place to park as they can take advantage of thousands of spaces on our other park and ride sites across the city.”
At the Forest Recreation Ground fairground rides and food stalls will be located around the biggest bonfire in the East Midlands, which will be lit at 7.45pm. Two large fireworks displays will take place at 7.15pm and 9.00pm.
The Forest park and ride will reopen on Tuesday, November 6.
Before the big event, fireworks fans and families can hop on the tram to two local bonfire events taking place on the evening of Saturday, November 3.
Stephanie added: “The tram really is the best way to get to and from organised bonfire parties and anyone with pre-paid tickets for the George Spencer Academy Fireworks Extravaganza in Toton Lane or the Wilford Village Fireworks can buy a special £2 event ticket from tram stop ticket machines.”
