Tennis fans heading for the Nature Valley Open, which gets underway on Saturday (June 9), can enjoy discounted travel on Nottingham’s tram network throughout the popular WTA tournament.
Attracting top tennis talent from across the globe, previous winners have included Stan Smith, Billie Jean King, Greg Rusedski and Jamie Murray, and this year’s Open is packed with potential stars of the future.
One of the highlights of Nottingham’s sporting calendar, the event draws visitors from across the country and beyond, and ticket holders can enjoy return travel from anywhere on the city’s tram network for just £2.
Stephanie Moss-Pearce, NET Marketing Manager, explained: “Our Event Ticket is available at all tram stop ticket machines and to take advantage of the offer fans need to have their match ticket with them and present it, along with their tram ticket, should they be asked by travel officers.”
All the action at Nottingham Tennis Centre is just a short walk away from Nottingham University tram stop. Throughout the competition, which runs until June 17, the stop will be decorated in tournament colours with clear signage to help customers complete their journey.
Families heading to the tournament can also save by purchasing NET’s £5 Group Ticket offering unlimited tram travel for two adults and up to three children from 4pm on weekdays and all day at weekends.
With 5,000 spaces at NET’s free park and ride sites, fans can also make great savings on parking.
Stephanie added: “Tennis enthusiasts should also keep an eye on NET’s social media for the chance to win tickets for the tournament that’s looking set to showcase the talent of the sport’s emerging stars, including British Number 1 Johanna Konta.
“By taking a tramline in the city to reach the tramlines on court, fans can also avoid the traffic and arrive fresh for a day of top-class tennis!”
