Nottingham’s tram network is helping to celebrate the 20th anniversary of a successful local charity and boosting its latest £3m fundraising campaign with supersized adverts running the whole length of several trams.
The 77-foot long adverts mark the milestone for Framework, which supports homeless and vulnerable people across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
They will also help to promote the charity’s Building Better Futures campaign that aims to contribute towards a £20m-plus capital programme to build 200 new homes over the next five years.
In addition to the building programme, the campaign will also fund support services to help people keep their homes and live independently.
Chris Williams, who oversees social responsibility for the tram operator, said: “We are delighted to see Framework reach this memorable milestone and to help the charity towards its future goals.
“NET has been supporting Framework for several years now, providing free tram passes to help their Street Outreach Team reach rough sleepers all over the city and publicising their great work.”
Framework was established in 2001 with the merger of Nottingham-based charities Macedon and Nottingham Help the Homeless Association.
It now operates throughout the East Midlands and in South Yorkshire and has changed the lives of around 200,000 vulnerable people. The charity currently houses up to 1,224 people at any one time but in addition to providing good quality housing also provides wide-ranging support services to help them stay in it.
These cover areas such as health, specialist services for drug, alcohol or mental health issues, training and employment services.
“Framework is doing some fantastic work across the communities we serve,” Chris said. “By helping them in their mission to support some of the city’s most vulnerable people, we hope to help make Nottingham an even better place to live, work and visit.”
Framework’s Chief Executive Andrew Redfern, who was one of the architects of the merger 20 years ago, said:
“We are so grateful to NET for their continuing support of the charity and its aims. The unmissable new advert will I’m sure help to raise awareness of our Building Better Futures campaign and, I hope, prompt members of the public to celebrate with us and consider making a donation.”
