Sophie Robson, Nottingham’s Nurse of the Year, has marked her award win by unveiling her name on one of the city’s trams.
Nurse Sophie, was guest of honour at a special ceremony to be held at the tram network’s Wilkinson Street depot.
She follows the previous award-winner, Luisa Avanzado after amassing the most votes in the 2019 Nurse and Midwife of the Year Awards.
The scheme - aimed at highlighting the contribution of local nurses and midwives - is organised by Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH) along with the Nottingham Post and NET is proud to have be headline sponsors since 2014.
Andrew Conroy, Chief Operating Officer at NET concessionaire Tramlink Nottingham, explained: “We were delighted to welcome Sophie to the NET depot for what’s always a very special occasion.
“It gives us the opportunity to recognise the commitment, compassion and dedication that’s found across the nursing profession while celebrating the individual contribution made by the overall award winner by naming a tram in their honour.”
Mandie Sunderland, NUH Chief Nurse, said: “We are all incredibly proud of Sophie I am delighted that she has had a tram named after her in honour of being voted our 2019 nurse of the year by the people of Nottingham and her colleagues.”
“Thank you once again to the Nottingham Post and NET for making these awards possible and providing another way for our hospitals and our nurses to more closely connect with our local community.”
