Nottingham Tram announced as title sponsor for the NET Masters Hockey World Cups 2022
NET, Nottingham’s iconic tram network, has been announced as the title sponsor of the World Masters Hockey Cups 2022 taking place in Nottingham this summer.
AHEAD of the World Masters Hockey 2024 Indoor World Cup Nottingham which kicks off on Thursday 28 March, Nottingham Express Transit (NET) will be showing its support for the popular sports fixture by offering a discounted travel pass to participating players and wider staff.
Using a new limited-edition pass for discounted travel, players and their supporting teams will be able to reach the tournament site via the ‘University of Nottingham’ and ‘University Boulevard’ tram stops for the duration of the five-day tournament, which ends on Monday 01 April.
The upcoming event will take place at the David Ross Sports Village, located at the University of Nottingham where hundreds of hockey fans will be able to watch a range of high-octane matches from more than 80 teams representing more than 17 countries across 12 age categories.
The partnership marks the third year NET has supported World Masters Hockey, after being named the travel partner at its European Championships last year, and for the Masters World Cup in 2022.
Alison Sweeney head of marketing at NET said: “We’re looking forward to partnering with World Masters Hockey for another year and are thrilled that they have chosen to host such a fantastic event once again in our city. Sporting events like this help to strengthen our city’s economy, as locals and visitors alike travel into and across Nottingham, which is a cause that we’re always happy to support.
“The special discounted pass used by the hockey players this week can safely get them to the tournament venue and around the city for less. And as thousands of spectators visit our city, they can also make the most of this convenient travel method by purchasing our standard seven-day adult pass for just £23, which equates to less than £5 per day that the tournament is on – or less than the price of a coffee if you travel the whole week.
"Beyond the tournament, in any free time that players or spectators might have, we’d encourage them to make the most of our tram network so they’ll be able see all that Nottingham has to offer both in and out of the city centre.”
