It's the most wonderful tram of the year: Carols are coming to the network.

Nottingham's tram network is getting taken over by tuneful travelers today, as the countdown to Christmas grows closer.

Reverend Jacob Tyers and some of the congregation from St Wilfrid’s Church in Wilford will be bringing plenty of festive cheer to the Nottingham Express Transit (NET) network, singing carols as they ride around the city – with plenty of extra carol song sheets available for those who want to join in.

It marks another way NET is celebrating the Christmas season, after the roll out of a new festive timetable, that sees trams in the city running every four minutes, compared to the normal service level where trams run every seven, ten or 15 minutes.

Alison Sweeney, head of marketing at NET said: “Christmas is always a busy time of year, it's why we increased our timetable, and we know it can sometimes be stressful. We hope this small gesture helps to bring a moment of joy to anyone who travels with us today - whether they’re heading to work, seeing loved ones or getting their Christmas shopping finished, they’re bound to be feeling festive after this tram ride.”
