How do I get a MANGO?
There are three ways to get a MANGO card:
- Tram stop ticket machines -see above for which stops have this service. Look for the sticker on the ticket machine that says 'BUY & TOP UP'.
- Online – Click here to go to the MANGO web page and sign up. You have to open an account by registering your details. You can then order your MANGO and choose how much money you want to load onto it. You'll receive your card in the post within 5 working days - you can use it straight away.
- Travel Centres - MANGO’s are also available from our travel centre, the Trentbarton shops in Broadmarsh or Victoria bus station.
Please note there is a £3 admin charge for every new MANGO.
Which MANGO is best for me?
adult MANGO - For all aged 20 and over
young MANGO - All children aged 15 and under AND anyone aged 16-19
student MANGO - If you're in full time education, you need to show a valid student ID every time you travel.
How does MANGO work?
MANGO acts as an 'electronic purse' - you charge it up at the tram stop, online or at travel centres. You then touch on at the start of your journey and off at the end of your journey using our validators at the tram stops. This ensures you get the best value fare every time you travel.
What discounts do I get?
MANGO gives you the best value fares for using the tram both against pay on the day cash fares and for regular commuters with the maximum charge 'caps'.
How do maximum charge caps work?
Every time you use your MANGO the journey details are logged. No matter how many times you use your card on the tram in one day, the charge is capped to £3.80 making MANGO better value than a cash day ticket. The maximum charge within a 7 day period is £17 and £49 within 28 days.
Please note that due to competition rules, we are not allowed to offer a joint cap when a MANGO is used on both the tram and trentbarton bus
What happens if I forget to touch off?
You only need to touch off your MANGO if you want to travel within a short-hop fare zone or you will be charged to the final destination of the journey that the tram is making. For instance - if you get on the tram at Hucknall and touch on, then get off at Moor Bridge but forget to touch off, you will be charged all the way to Nottingham which is the end of the journey. So always remember to touch off and check the screen to make sure that it has registered.
How much money can I put on my MANGO?
The minimum top-up amount in any transaction is £10, and the maximum balance allowed on a card at any time is £250.
How long does it take for credit to load onto my MANGO?
It will take up to 24 hours for any 'top-up' charge to reach your card so it is best to top up in good time. The credit on your card will be activated when you next touch on at the validator.
How do I know how much credit is left on my MANGO?
You can view your remaining credit when you touch off at the validator at the tram stop and in your online customer account.
How can I see what I've spent on my MANGO?
You can view your journey history by logging into your online account at any time.
What if I run out of credit on my MANGO?
If you have low or no credit left on your card you will be able to take one more journey which will take your account into a negative balance. You should then top-up your card as soon as possible so that you can continue to use MANGO as usual - please allow up to 24 hours for any credit to reach your card, this will activate when you next touch on your card at the validator.
What should I do if I lose or damage my MANGO?
If your card is lost or stolen, you must advise our customer services team immediately on 0115 942 7777 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Your card will be 'stopped' at midnight on the day that the loss is reported. Any remaining balance (less a £3 administration fee and all travel up to the time that the card was stopped) will be transferred to the new card. This only applies to MANGO cards that have a registered account. New cards must be collected from our Travel Centre on King street, just off the Old Market Square in Nottingham city centre. If you damage your MANGO card please visit our customer service team at the Travel Centre on King Street for a replacement card. Any existing balance on the damaged card will be transferred to the new card minus a £3 administration fee.
Can anybody else use my MANGO?
Yes, family and friends can share the card too, so when you're not using it, they can.
Can I use MANGO on the bus?
All MANGO’s are valid for travel on trentbarton buses too but we cannot offer a joint maximum charge 'cap' due to competition rules.
