Nottingham’s tram network is adjusting its schedules to help services run smoothly during the hugely popular Goose Fair period.
Every year thousands of extra passengers use the tram to travel to the historic event and NET has reviewed its service patterns to cope with the extra demand during the five-day event.
Stephanie Moss-Pearce, NET’s Marketing Manager, explained: “With a stop right by the Goose Fair’s entrance at The Forest, the tram is the best way to travel to this world famous event.
“With thousands of additional passengers using our network, we are adjusting services to ensure we can operate as smoothly and efficiently as possible for everyone, including our regular customers.”
Wednesday 4 October: Normal weekday timetable in operation.
Thursday 5 October: Trams from every 7 minutes between 7am-10am and from every 10 minutes between 10am-10pm. Trams from every 15 minutes at all other times during service.
Friday 6 October: Trams from every 7 minutes between 7am-10am and from every 10 minutes between 10am-10pm. Trams from every 15 minutes at all other times during service.
Saturday 7 October: Trams from every 10 minutes between 7am-10pm. Trams from every 15 minutes at all other times during service.
Sunday 8 October: Normal Sunday timetable in operation.
As well as dropping customers right on the doorstep of the event, those using the tram to get to Goose Fair can take advantage of discount travel and free parking.
NET’s £5 Group Ticket offers unlimited tram travel for one or two adults and up to three kids 4pm on weekdays and all day at weekends, whilst free parking is available at park & ride sites located across the network.
Stephanie added: “Whilst The Forest park & ride site will be shut to accommodate the Goose Fair’s attractions, customers can still make use of over 4,000 free spaces at our six other sites.
“With the park & ride sites in the north section of our network tending to be very busy, we would recommend that customers travelling to the fair use our Toton Lane or Clifton South park & ride sites to ensure they get a space.”
NET’s park & ride site at The Forest will be closed from 6pm on Saturday 30 September to make way for the fair’s many attractions. The site will reopen again from 6am on Wednesday 11 October.
