Tram Network Celebrates Award Winning Employee App

An innovative mobile phone app for tram staff in Nottingham has picked up a trio of prestigious industry awards in just a matter of days.
Developed by NET’s operating company Keolis, the app has won the Best Branding and Most Strategic Communications for Smaller Organisations categories at the Engagement Excellence Awards which celebrates new initiatives in employee engagement.
It was also named winner of the Project of the Year Under £50m category at the tram industry’s ‘Oscars’ event, the 2017 Global Light Rail Awards.
NET’s Director and General Manager, Paul Robinson explained: “These awards are great news and it’s a real boost to see the work we’ve put into developing the app recognised not only by the leading figures in our own industry, but across other business sectors as well.”
With around 80 per cent of the tram network’s staff working remotely, the app was introduced in an effort to improve internal communications.
Branded with its own EmMA (Employee Mobile App) character, the technology has become staff members’ first port of call when they need read notices, look at staff benefits, submit holiday requests, check rosters or just keep up to date with the latest NET news.
Paul added: “It has proved to be a huge hit, with over three quarters of our staff downloading the app in the first month following its launch.
“Not only has it helped us communicate more quickly with a large portion of the workforce that is rarely at a desk, it has also helped us deal with the administration of such things as employee benefits and annual leave much more effectively.”
