Tram Disruption - 20th May

NET regretfully confirms that, following an incident on the evening of Monday 20 May 2008, trams were unable to serve the Lace Market or Station Street stops.

Tram services were running as normal from Phoenix Park and Hucknall, but were temporarily curtailed at the Old Market Square between approx 23:00 on 20 th May and until 08:10 on 21 st May.

The section of route between the Old Market Square and Station Street could not be served due to a car which had continued onto the tram-only viaduct near the Station Street tram stop, becoming stuck and subsequently blocking the track. As a result, one tram remained at the Station Street stop overnight until the track was cleared in daylight this morning and tram services have now reverted back to the full route.

NET will be investigating this incident and would like to apologise to all passengers for the inconvenience caused as a result of the temporary curtailment of services.
