Nominate Your Nurse Of The Year!
23 February 2017
The outstanding care and contribution provided to Nottingham by its nurses and midwives is set to be recognised once again with a special award ceremony.

Nomination's for the 2017 Nurse and Midwife of the Year awards are now open and NET is urging people to nominate a nurse or midwife who has made a difference to them or to their friends and family.

The scheme is organised by Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust along with the Nottingham Post and NET is proud to once again be headline sponsors.

Jamie Swift, NET's Head of Marketing, said: "This is our fourth successive year of supporting these awards and we're proud to be involved in a scheme that highlights the absolutely crucial and caring role our city's nurses and midwives play within our community.

"We already have strong links with NUH which will no doubt be further strengthened when the new direct walkway from the Queen's Medical Centre to our dedicated hospital tram stop opens later this year.

"As in previous years, the overall winner of the 2017 Nottingham Nurse of the Year Award will also receive the honour of having a tram named after them for the next 12 months."

As well as being named International Nurse of the Year, staff nurse Aprille Jones was crowned the overall winner at last year's ceremony, and has seen her name on the side of a NET tram for the past year.

At the time, Aprille, who was honoured for her work at the theatre recovery ward at Queen's Medical Centre, said: "I am very happy, I feel honoured to have this award.

"I was already thrilled to be a finalist but to have actually won the award is overwhelming. I can't really speak, I am just so excited.

"It's such a great feeling. It's such a rewarding job. All the hard work has paid off. To know that someone is watching and recognising what we do, I really appreciate that."

Nominations will be open until Sunday, March 19. A panel of experts will then narrow the entries down to three shortlisted entrants in each category, before a public vote decides the winner.

The shortlisted finalists will then be invited to a glittering awards ceremony held on Thursday, May 18, at Nottingham Conference
