New Cycle Lockers at Phoenix Park and Ride

New cycle lockers have been installed by the City Council at the Phoenix Park and Ride tram stop. The installation of the six new lockers provides a safe and secure place for cyclists to leave their bikes while using the tram system and adds to the nine cycle stands already in place at this site.

Cycle Lockers

The new lockers, which can be used by cyclists bringing their own padlock, are in addition to those already operating at Hucknall and to the cycle stands which are available at most other tramstops along the route. For security, the area is monitored by CCTV cameras.

Hugh McClintock, chair of Pedals, the local group formed to encourage cycle use, said: "Pedals very much welcomes the installation of these cycle lockers. Not only will this help to make cyclists far happier about the security of their bikes when left at this park and ride site but it is also a very good way in which combined use of bikes and other environmentally-friendly transport such as trams can be promoted."

Andy Whickham, the Pedals member who originally proposed the idea, is pictured using the new lockers.
